Janna Zinzi joins Matt from New Orleans and they talk about meeting at Nomadness Fest.  Janna then talks about growing up in New York during the golden era of hip hop in the 90s.  She reflects on the role of dance in her life as a young person, and the history and significance of BIPOC women in burlesque.  Janna then talks about how she started traveling the world and telling Black stories.  She shares some of her top travel experiences from Haiti to Napoli to Costa Rica, and reflects on the type travel stories she chooses to write about. Janna A. Zinzi

Janna A. Zinzi (also known as jaz) is a traveling storyteller documenting cultural changemakers in arts, spirituality, entrepreneurship and social justice. Janna is the co-founder of WanderWomxn, a community and travel agency connecting women and gender expansive folks of color with cultural and sustainable travel adventures. Janna is also a travel journalist with bylines in Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, The Daily Beast; and was a contributor to the newly released Lonely Planet Costa Rica guidebook. In addition to her writing, she has over twenty years of experience as a media strategist for organizations working on civil rights, reproductive justice and Black arts equity. Originally from New York, Janna is also a mixed media artist and a forever student of dance.
