About the Host, Matt Bowles
Matt Bowles is your typical Irish-American hip hop DJ turned human rights activist turned location-independent entrepreneur turned minimalist world-traveler and podcaster. After getting a Master’s Degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution, Matt worked in the nonprofit advocacy space until he was unexpectedly fired from his job at age 30, at which point he decided to pivot completely and start a location-independent business that would enable him to travel the world full-time.

Matt co-founded Maverick Investor Group as a fully-remote real estate brokerage to help people like you buy cash-flowing rental properties in the best U.S. markets from anywhere. He has been featured in major national media and was named one of the “Top 50 Real Estate Opinion Makers and Market Leaders”. Matt and his co-founders at Maverick have helped individual real estate investors buy over $100 million in residential investment property across 15 States.

Matt slow-travels the world full-time and runs his company from epic locations across the globe. He left Los Angeles in 2013 and has spent time in over 65 countries on 6 continents since then.

While traveling the world, Matt started meeting absolutely fascinating people with unbelievable stories who had done extraordinary things. In 2018 he began recording conversations with them all over the world (usually over a bottle of wine :). He has been publishing weekly episodes of The Maverick Show ever since and now has listeners in over 185 countries.

Matt travels the world full time with carry-on luggage only, and that includes an espresso maker, a wine aerator, a professional podcasting studio, and a 3-piece suit! He conducts workshops around the world on “stylish minimalist packing,” and recently recorded a free video training on how to do it.
