THE ROYALS GALA is a Black Tie Gala in Accra, Ghana that I attended exactly a year ago this week. I had a traditional Ghanaian outfit custom made for me, and the event was magical in every way–from the fashion, to the ambiance, to the food, to the clientele, and especially the Ghanaian Afrobeats stars that performed just a few feet away from us. I met extraordinary people there, the party rocked all night, and it was a night I’ll always remember. THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES is set in 1952 when Ernesto (Che) Guevara (then a 23 year old medical student in Buenos Aires) and his friend set out on a road trip to discover the real Latin America. In addition to the stunning scenery, the trip unveils the rich and complex human and social topography of Latin America. The two friends begin to see a different Latin America in the people they meet on the road. The diverse geography they encounter begins to reflect their own shifting perspectives, awakening within them the men they will later become. This is one of the best and most important travel films I’ve ever seen. Watch the trailer here.
