1) EVENTS TO MEET ME AT

NOMAD CRUISE 12. Join me on board the “Nomad Cruise” in December 2023 and get a special $100 Discount. There will be over 300 digital nomads on this 10 day cruise from Spain to Brazil. It’s basically an entrepreneur and travel conference on a boat with parties every night and amazing networking. This will be my 5th Nomad Cruise and I’ve met 25 of my podcast guests at this event! I’ll be giving a keynote speech on board, so they are allowing me to offer you $100 off if you use my affiliate link to buy your tickets here and use the discount code “Matt100” at checkout.

2) TRAVEL GEAR I USE

BEEGREEN REUSABLE GROCERY BAGS. These are reusable, washable, ultra-lightweight grocery bags that fold up super tiny and easily fit in my pocket. But, they can hold 50 pounds of stuff (the equivalent of at least 2 standard grocery bags full of items). I never have to use plastic grocery bags from the store, so it’s environmentally sound. And, I never have to worry about grocery bags breaking because these are made of ripstop polyester cloth and are super sturdy. Check out BeeGreen Reusable Grocery Bags and all of my travel gear.

3) WHAT TO READ

BEYOND GUILT TRIPS: MINDFUL TRAVEL IN AN UNEQUAL WORLD by Dr. Anu Taranath is one of the most important books on travel that I’ve ever read. I found it very helpful in unpacking the way I navigate, relate to, and process my travel encounters with race, culture, and class inequality, including extreme poverty and neo-colonial power dynamics. While a big purpose of my travel is to intentionally push myself outside my comfort zone, encounter the world as it is, and learn about it first hand, it is also important that I can process those experiences in constructive ways, and ensure I’m making a positive impact as I travel. This book provides a really helpful framework and perspective for doing just that. You can buy the book or listen to the audio book with a free trial of Audible here.

Did you Listen to Last Week’s Episode of The Maverick Show?

Last week I interviewed Simone Vincenzi, a 7-figure entrepreneur and digital nomad. He talked about playing pickup basketball around the world as a way to meet local people and immerse in local cultures. He also explained his 4 Step “GTex Method” for turning your expertise into a thriving business. Simone gave specific tips on how to host an effective webinar, how to create an effective sales funnel, and how to incorporate public speaking and earned media into your business model.
