MC ABDUL is a hip hop artist from Gaza. Now 15 years old, I have been following him and listening to his music for years. He has been rapping from the streets of Gaza, using hip hop as a medium for describing what life is like growing up there, and advocating for peace and justice. 2) ART TO APPRECIATE

Hebah Zagout was a Palestinian artist from Gaza who was recently killed in her home by an Israeli airstrike along with two of her children on October 13th, 2023. Her art included cultural elements of Palestinian life such as farms, daily activities, churches and mosques, as well as representations of the emotional adversity of daily life in Gaza. Her paintings were rich with stories, history and dignity, and she used her art as a way of preserving Palestinian heritage, culture and identity in the face of attempts to erase it. Naomi Shihab Nye is an acclaimed Palestinian poet, essayist, novelist, and anthologist who was named the Young People’s Poet Laureate and a finalist for the National Book Award. This is one of her poems, “Before I Was a Gazan”.
