BRAZILIAN SAMBA’S TRUE ORIGINS is a 2-minute video by award-winning travel creator Nicole Phillip who I just interviewed on Ep 365 . This is one of the first videos she has dropped after winning the 2025 Social Media Video of the Year at the Black Travel Film Festival. Here she explains the history of how Samba didn’t just pop up as a cute Carnival two-step but grew out of Afro-Brazilian religious life, and before it became “mainstream” it was labeled “dangerous.” “disorderly,” “criminal”.  Only later when it became profitable did it become acceptable.
