WALTER RODNEY: WHAT THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW traces the life, thought, and assassination of Guyanese historian and revolutionary Walter Rodney, whose book How Europe Underdeveloped Africa remains a cornerstone of anti-colonial scholarship. Featuring testimony from Angela Davis alongside Rodney’s family & comrades, the film exposes how state surveillance and Cold War geopolitics marked Rodney as a threat, culminating in his assassination in 1980—a crime the Guyanese government only acknowledged responsibility for in 2021. Angela Davis situates Rodney within the broader movements for Black liberation and global solidarity, underscoring the enduring relevance of his vision in today’s struggles against imperialism, racial capitalism & political repression.
