C.B. is a new documentary film produced by Javier Wallace who I interviewed on ep 305 about C.B. Claiborne, the first Black basketball player at Duke University.  The film delves into not only C.B.’s experience as the first Black athlete at Duke in the 1960s, but his activism on campus fighting for the dignity and rights of other Black students, and his role in helping to shape a movement far bigger than basketball. And C.B.’s legacy didn’t stop there as he went on to become an engineer, Fulbright scholar, photographer, and professor. The film was an official selection at the 2025 Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival and the 2026 Pan African Film Festival in LA. Watch the trailer.

Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride Over the Serengeti.  One of the most magical moments from my time in Tanzania was drifting silently above the Serengeti at sunrise in a hot air balloon.  As the first light spills across endless plains, you watch herds of elephants, giraffes, and wildebeest move below as hippos playfully jump out of the water, all just enjoying life in their natural habitat.  Upon landing, a glass of champaign and a beautiful breakfast in the bush made the entire experience feel surreal, intimate, and unforgettable.
